budgetingIn addition to one-to-one support, Pennywise delivers workshops and information sessions on a range of topics, including:

  • Budgeting
  • Reducing energy and water bills
  • Getting online
  • Covering the costs of moving
  • Seasonal craft sessions to reduce the cost of celebrations, such as Christmas
  • Tasty cookery on a budget

Our engaging and interactive workshops are to suit all learning styles and we can run workshops and sessions in community groups, support groups, schools and children’s centres across the city. We’re always keen to develop new workshops, so if your organisation would like to host a bespoke workshop, get in touch.

Roof Over My Head (January – December)

After the successful pilot programme in Autumn 2015, Pennywise are happy to be delivering on Bristol City Council’s Roof Over My Head course. This council-led programme will support people in housing need (including homeless households) to develop the skills needed to sustain their tenancy in the long term. Pennywise will be delivering sessions on Budgeting and Moving-On, offering practical tips and advice.

photo 1Cookery (April- June)

Pennywise are working closely with our partner project, Cash Pointers, to deliver 12 cookery workshops with children’s centres and schools across the city. We’ll be cooking tasty, low-cost recipes and exploring online recipe-searching and budgeting.

Benefits to Monthly Budgeting (March onwards)

In addition to delivering workshops to help ease the transition from benefits to employment, we will be running sessions around monthly budgeting to support new Universal Credit claimants.

Refugees: My Future (April – October)

Pennywise are excited to be part of the development process for Refugee: My Future workshops, led by Borderlands. Over four sessions, running every Monday afternoon, participants will be offered information on housing, benefits, budgeting and employment.

Sessions will begin at the Borderlands Monday afternoon drop-in on 25th April.

Moving Home workshops

moving vanMoving home can be costly! Pennywise Move-on workshops support people to furnish their home, access available grants and complete all the tasks involved in moving. We are currently developing these with Missing Link and Second Step.
